Schools' stage shows
East Sussex County Council is working with the theatre group Circus Takeaway to present 'Lost in Litter '“ a detective's story' which will tackle the serious issue of litter and fly tipping in a fun way. The performance is packed full of magic, juggling and has plenty of audience participation to encourage discussion and increase awareness.
The shows will be visiting 46 primary schools around the county and are part of East Sussex County Council's Rethink Rubbish Project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Hide AdThe theatre show describes how even small pieces of litter like plastic bags and glass bottles can cause problems. Children and schools will be encouraged to set an example to the rest of their community showing that small actions can build up to big changes and improvements to the environment.
Children will take away their own packs of games and puzzles after the show which will continue to spread the environmentally friendly messages.
Children who attend the shows will also be able to enter two competitions which continue the anti-litter theme:
'¢ design a poster to discourage littering
'¢ write a poem or a short article about the importance of not littering.

Hide AdThe project aims to identify some of the issues and problems created by the increasing volume of waste produced in both East Sussex and Rouen and to provide solutions that will lessen the impact on the environment. There are a number of objectives and one of these is to increase public awareness of waste issues by jointly developing new methods of communicating with the public, such as the theatre shows about litter and waste.
