'Successful first month' for Brighton bike share scheme
The scheme was launched on September 1, and allows residents and visitors to hire the bikes for 3p a minute.
Operated by Hourbike, and sponsored by Life Natural Spring Water, cyclists are collectively making an average of 800 journeys a day on the bikes.

Hide AdTim Caswell, owner of Hourbike, said: “We came in knowing Brighton and Hove is a unique city with a strong cycling culture, but still the usage figures are even better than we could have imagined! None of our other schemes across UK and Europe have had such a strong first month.”
Cllr Gill Mitchell, chair of the council’s environment, transport and sustainability committee, said: “It’s encouraging to hear that BTN Bikeshare has had a successful first month and that the bikes are proving popular with both residents and visitors to the city.”
The scheme has 450 bikes and 50 docking stations across the city, including at Brighton station, Brighton Marina, the universities and Hove Town Hall.
Residents and visitors can hire and locate the Life Bikes via the 'SoBi' app
