A silver Jaguar X-Type travelling west in Parkhurst Road at 5pm appeared to lose control, overshoot the junction into Sackville Road and crashed into two other cars and a bicycle before hitting the laundrette where the 56-year-old woman was inside.
She suffered serious arm injuries and back injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment. She underwent surgery on Saturday.
