Sussex: Footpaths set to re-open
This follows a meeting between East Sussex County Council and the National Farmers Union and the Country Land and Business Association.
The Government has requested local authorities to reopen rights of way without delay, particularly in areas where there has never been a confirmed case of foot-and-mouth disease.

Path users are being asked to follow a new country code , not to go near livestock, keep dogs on short leads and use disinfectant where provided.
County environment director Bob Wilkins said: We are aware of some continuing concerns from farmers and landowners but, on balance, felt this to be be the right
approach after a three-month closure.
Opening up paths will also help the all-important recovery of the rural economy.
Until Friday, some paths will remain closed.

It is irresponsible to take any risk until this disease is beaten, he added.
The recent outbreaks, some in areas not previously affected, underline the case for vigilance.
