Hide AdHastings Mayor, Cllr Judy Rogers and Cllr Dawn Poole, HBC’s lead member for leisure, thanked the volunteers for the time they have given to help at Playdays in the Park and numerous other community events and play sessions over the past year. Cllr Poole said: “Without the help and commitment from young volunteers it would be very difficult to run the many events we do so successfully. Their help and constant enthusiasm is invaluable so it’s very important that we recognise all the work they do. We have seen many young people grow in confidence while volunteering; some are currently taking courses and have completed training days under the guidance of our Play Hastings and Street Games teams which will give them useful qualifications for the future. Some have become active in the Youth Council. All this helps to improve self-esteem and creates great role models for other young people in Hastings.”
