Sussex travel report: Multiple road traffic incidents; A259 reopens after diesel spillage; 'severe' A27 delays; temporary traffic signals cause long queues

One road traffic collision has been reported by the AA in West Sussex – in Shoreham-by-Sea.
Two vehicles have reportedly collided on Upper Shoreham Road. The road is partially blocked, with heavy traffic reported both ways near St Nicolas Lane.

Hide AdDelays are said to be increasing on A27 Old Shoreham Road, westbound between A270 Upper Shoreham Road (Southwick / Holmbush turn off) and A2025 Grinstead Lane (Sompting roundabout).
In Lancing, a vehicle has reportedly broken down on A27 Upper Brighton Road. A partial road closure is in place, with heavy traffic reported eastbound at Busticle Lane (Hilllbarn traffic lights).
Minor delays have been reported on A27 The Causeway eastbound in Arundel.
In Chichester, delays are easing on A27 Chichester Bypass eastbound and westbound.

Hide AdThere remain minor delays on A27 eastbound, between Church Road and A285 Portfield Way.
In East Sussex, all lanes are now open on the A259, in both directions between the A268 and the B2089 near Rye.
This follows a diesel spillage on the carriageway, which has now been cleared.
National Highways said delays of less than 10 minutes remain on the approach, in both directions.

Hide AdElsewhere, a single-car collision has been reported in Newhaven. A26 New Road is partially blocked, with heavy traffic both ways near the Bridge Industrial Estate.
Meanwhile, temporary traffic signals are in place on A272 Cowfold Road, causing delays both ways near A23 (Bolney Cross).
Near Lewes, traffic is reportedly heavier than normal on A27 both ways from the Glynde turn-off to A26 (Beddingham roundabout).
‘Severe delays’ are said to be increasing on A27 eastbound.
