More than 20 scarecrows lined the streets of Nuthurst last week for a scarecrow competition organised by the Nuthurst Society.
The competition involved scarecrows, dressed in a 1970s theme, being judged by local people who then chose their favourite scarecrows.
Jo Harrison of the Nuthurst Society explained that the competition coincided with the society’s 40th anniversary.
She said: “I think it might become an annual event - it brought smiles to a lot of faces.
“I think they had seen it done in other villages, it creates a good community feel and everyone got involved.”
