Volleyball court plan for Eastbourne beach is scrapped
The council was behind the project for three courts on the seafront on a disused plot of shingle on beach next to the bowling green in Royal Parade.
The plan was for a range of beach sports activities offered to all ages and abilities and coaching from Eastbourne Volleyball Club.

But a consultation on the proposal led to concerns from residents living nearby over noise.
Officials looked at an alternative site closer to Treasure Island but an issue with a pipe in the area prevented the scheme going ahead and the courts being built.
A report due to go before the council’s decision making cabinet committee next month confirmed the scheme has now been withdrawn and that £6,000 had been spent on exploratory work.
