VOLUNTEER: Offer a few hours to help out needy causes
St Bridget’s Leonard Cheshire Disability home, in Ilex Close, is appealing for volunteers to help teach residents basic cookery skills.
Many of those living in the home would like to prepare and cook their own meals but require support to do so, such as gentle reminders of the order of a recipe, to set the oven or the opening of a can.

A full briefing of the residents’ abilities will also be given.

Hide AdThe Tamarisk Centre, in Beach Road, runs a variety of classes and activities for elderly residents from across the area.
The role would see the volunteer supporting those joining in with all the fun.
This will be done either by teaching or leading a group.
Volunteers would be also asked to take a register of all those taking part. Flexible hours are offered.
Reserve volunteers are also required to cover any holiday and sickness that may arise.
