Hide AdDetective constable Stuart McPherson of the West Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit said: “This woman bravely came forward the day after the incident and gave evidence against Nyman. The jury was directed by the judge that they could draw inferences from Nyman’s ‘no comment’ interview with police, carried out when he was arrested the day the offence was reported.
“They were clearly sure of Nyman’s guilt as they came back with a unanimous guilty verdict less than 90 minutes after retiring.
“Hopefully the victim will now be able to draw some closure after her terrible ordeal which left her emotionally exhausted for many months afterwards.”
