Woman, 98, rescued from blaze
A PENSIONER was rescued from her home after a chip pan caught alight.
Firefighters were called to the ground-floor flat in Gardner Road, Fishersgate, after upstairs neighbours spotted smoke coming through the floorboards, at 11am on Thursday.
The crew forced entry to the flat and found a 98-year-old woman collapsed in the kitchen , overcome by smoke.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued the woman who was taken to Worthing Hospital for further treatment. A Carelink alarm was later fitted in the flat.
