The Nurses League was founded on January 1, 1922 as the Royal West Sussex Hospital Old Nurses’ Association and later changed to incorporate St Richard’s and Graylingwell student and qualified nurses.

Although there are currently some 170 members, they are scattered throughout the world and many are quite elderly.
