Burgess Hill School finish third in National Kwik Cricket Finals
Representing Sussex, the team had to come through a series of qualifying tournaments at Burgess Hill, Mid-Sussex and Sussex county level in order to reach the finals.
They were crowned county champions at the Blackstone Ground, winning all five of their games and defeating perennial rivals Harlands by five runs in a tightly contested final game.

A very tight group stage meant that, along with the Norfolk and Hertfordshire representatives, everyone finished on two points. However, Birchwood Grove’s 80 run win against Hertfordshire meant that they qualified for the semi finals on runs scored and faced Engayne School from Essex.
Unfortunately, unable to deal with the relentless line and length bowling from the Essex side, Birchwood Grove lost out and finished in joint third place. This is, however, a fantastic achievement for all of those involved and is thought to be the furthest the school have ever progressed in this competition.
