League new boys West Chilt up to third with impressive run

In Division 4, their 1st XI earned a third win in a row with a comfortable six-wicket win over bottom side Hellingly.
The visitors, who only narrowly avoided demotion to the East Sussex League last term, won the toss and batted first.

Hide AdThey could only manage 109 all out with a top score of 40 coming from Greg Devlin, who put on a 66-run stand with James McDonald (28) for the fourth wicket taking them to 100-4.
Hellingly’s last six wickets only managing nine runs between them as Chilt’s bowlers did all the damage.
Three of them grabbed all the wickets - Charlie Davies bagged four, fellow spinner James Howgate took three and medium pacer Jack Elliott-Monday snared three of his own.
When they batted, Chilt’s overseas Sanchit Batra bagged his first duck but the damage had been done and they were home in the 26th over with 110-4. Tim Jarvis put on 17, Elliott-Monday scored 33, along with an unbeaten 18 from Mick Armstrong and 26 from Ed Kilner.

Hide AdChilt took another 30 points and winless Hellingly just two. The West Sussex side are up to third having been bottom only a couple of weeks ago themselves as they play Seaford at the Rec on Saturday.
Elliott-Monday said: “Interesting that with all the talk being about our two Indians getting all our runs that both got ducks today. And the bowlers in our first and second team have delivered the game to us two weeks in a row now.
“It’s great to be back from university and see a few new faces as well as some familiar ones. We’re on the up and I can’t wait for next week.”
In Division 3 West Reserves, Chilt 2nd dished out their fourth thumping in a row - this time at Portslade.

Hide AdThe home side won the toss and elected to bat in testing conditions. After a long rain delay, they were dismissed for just 96 runs - Chilt’s two under-16s Danny Abbott and Reuben Taylor took three wickets each.
When they batted, the visitors lost four wickets chasing it down. Opener Alex Miller made an unbeaten 42.
