Hastings suffered a comprehensive eight-wicket defeat by Cuckfield on Saturday meaning they have only won one of the first three games.
And Gillespie is looking for some positives in the final games against Mayfield and unbeaten Eastbourne - and despite the results he and his side have enjoyed the competition.

Gillespie said: “We have two competitive games against good teams left, it would be nice to win at least one of them but we will have to play better in all disciplines.
“We have really enjoyed the August Cup, playing competitive cricket in a good spirit with a bit of freedom has been good and the best we can hope for.
“Have had two close games and only Saturday has it been decided before the last few overs of the match.”

Gillespie said: “Yes disappointing to lose as convincingly as we did. The game was lost in the first 10 overs of each innings really.
“They asked us to bat in tough conditions, gloomy with a bit of moisture on the pitch and hit great areas with a really good bowling attack. It noticeably got a little easier as it dried and we were able to post 172 from 40 odd for 6.
“In reply we were unable to match their consistency with the ball and bowled a bit all over the place which is a shame as we had bowled quite well in previous weeks.
“They also had an opener who really took it away from us and batted phenomenally even as it got darker and the rain returned.”
Hastings travel to Mayfield on Saturday.
