Davis so close to maximum 147 break

The St Leonards cueman was on course for a maximum in frame three of his Championship League group seven match against Dominic Dale on Monday until going in-off the final pink.
It meant Davis had to settle for a run of 134 - nine shy of his career-best 143, which he fashioned at the 2010 China Open and 2013 International Championship.

Hide AdWorld number 25 Davis picked himself up from the inevitable disappointment at missing out on the maximum to narrowly win the next frame for a 3-1 victory having earlier clinched the opener with a run of 76.
He went on to reach the semi-finals of group seven - matching his result in groups five and six, which were also played at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex last week.
Davis has qualified for the 32-man Ladbrokes Players Championship, which will take place in Manchester from March 22-27, but narrowly missed out on a place in next week’s Ladbrokes World Grand Prix in Llandudno.
