Crawley’s Mark Yates confirms interest in Oldham’s Rhys Murphy

The striker has scored ten goals this season, nine of them since arriving on a three-month loan from League One side Oldham.
Murphy’s brace last Saturday earned Reds a 3-2 victory over Dagenham and led to him being named in Sky Bet League Two’s team of the week.

Hide AdHowever his spell at Crawley ends after Saturday’s visit to Barnet and Yates is trying to arrange a return to the Checkatrade.com Stadium in the New Year.
Yates said: “We are doing all we can to get him back. Oldham may need him for their relegation battle, but you never know!”
Crawley’s win against Dagenham meant they have now recorded six wins, one draw and three losses in their last ten league matches.
Reds, in 15th, are four places above Barnet, who have gone five league games without a win.

Hide AdThe Bees’ topscorers are former Crawley player John Akinde and Michael Gash who have both scored seven goals this season.
Last season Akinde netted 33 times helping Barnet win promotion to League Two as Conference champions.
Yates said: “We deserved the win, we’ve had a good week and we’re looking forward to the game.
“Although Lanre Oyebanjo and Joe McNerney continue to be out, we are training with 20 players on a regular basis, all trying to get in the team.
“Barnet are a big, tough team with some very good players.

“We are away from home so it’s going to be a difficult game.
“Our players are aware of Barnet’s strengths and weaknesses. We will have to work extremely hard just to get something out of it.”
