From Argentina to England: The highs and lows of a professional footballer
Written by both Sergio Torres and Juan Manuel Lopez, the Sergio Torres Story details the former’s journey from Argentina to England, chasing the dream to become a professional footballer.
Throughout the 271 page publication, Torres’ excellent and informative book suggests decision making processes at every turn, from trusting a somewhat evasive agent, Roland, to making a couple of decisions on whether to return home to his native Argentina.

Despite what many may think regarding the life of a professional footballer, Sergio’s story is hugely different; a man who’s witnessed the highs and lows throughout his career, he details the utopia of his days at Wycombe and Crawley, while, at the other end of the spectrum, recollects darker days of disappointment during his time at Peterborough United, potentially returning home for a second time.
Being an avid Crawley Town supporter, the one disappointment was not reading more on the Reds end to what was, a truly remarkable Conference campaign, earning a place in the Football League for the very first time. However, I can see why Torres has decided to end on the Manchester United game!
Nonetheless, don’t let this put you Reds supporters off, there’s still plenty regarding Sergio’s time in West Sussex, including that night against Derby County, the build up to the completion of the Old Trafford dream, his relationship with fiery former Reds boss Steve Evans and a slightly unfortunate incident with Kyle McFadzean!

Overall, it is a great read, inspirational, and with plenty of brilliant memories. You can feel the emotion in all the different scenarios. What are you waiting for? Go and get “The Sergio Torres Story” now!
