Crawley Town head coach Dermot Drummy has likened Josh Yorwerth's goal at Exeter City to Ricky Villa's classic strike in the 1981 FA Cup final.

Wales Under-21 international Yorwerth spent last season on loan from Ipswich Town playing in what was one of the leakiest defences in League 2 (Crawley’s).

Fast-forward a few weeks and he is now a changed player, coming off the bench to play in his new midfield role.

Minutes after coming on the field on Tuesday night he went on a mazey run through the Grecians’ defence to score the winning goal which lifted Reds to the joint-top spot in the table.

Drummy denied Yorwerth single-handedly won Crawley the match, but stressed: “We won through a fantastic team effort.

“Am I surprised Josh did so well? No! I have seen his technical ability.

“I am delighted he scored. It was good he had the confidence not to shoot but to dribble and place it in the net.
