Landais treble helps Westfield return to winning ways
The win came courtesy of an excellent George Landais hat-trick, his first goals for the club. Westfield made it hard work for themselves at times and didn’t reach the levels of their opening day demolition of Eastbourne Rangers. Though they were once again bright going forward, they conceded three sloppy goals.
Westfield started brightly enough, with George King carrying on his early season form with a very well taken goal inside the opening fifteen minutes. King beat three players before finishing calmly,

Hide AdGeorge Landais doubled the lead and Westfield appeared to then have the game sown up.
To their credit, Uckfield came out in the second half and played some neat football. Having pulled one back, Uckfield were then gifted an equaliser. Westfield’s Martyn Durrant recklessly bought down an Uckfield attacker and they dispatched the resulting penalty. Westfield however again found themselves in a winning position, Jack Stapley was pushed over in the box and Landais scored from the spot.
Instead of seeing out the remainder of the game, Westfield conceded a third just two minutes later.
The game looked to be heading for an entertaining draw, however Landais’s quality proved to be the difference and he notched the winner for Westfield two minutes from time.

Hide AdWestfield are due to face Sporting Lindfield away next Saturday and will then face their toughest test of the season, in the form of Rustington In the Sussex Intermediate Cup.
