At an extra session in the village hall and starting with the younger ones, Alison taught them about back- side- and top-spin, showing how a back spin could bring the ball back to your own side without giving your opponent a chance to hit it. She then showed them how to return such spins by opening or closing your bat, She offered any of the players prize money if they could return her serve but no-one went home richer.
The older juniors also enjoyed a similar lesson.
During the evening Alison also questioned the members about table tennis facts, from scoring, bat types and the speed professionals can hit the ball, which is around 100mph.
