Meaby tried hard but Lewis had all the experience to run out a comfortable winner in three games.

Hide AdSteve Kus was at No4 for Bognor playing Dave Santer and despite a good effort, the home player also won in straight games – as did Chris O’Neil in the third-string clash with Bognor’s Jon Burley the score 9-5, 9-4, 9-3.
This gave Littlehampton an unassailable advantage, but Bognor’s old hands, in the remaining rubbers, redeemed matters.
Dave Meagher for Bognor took on Steve Slaughter in what should have been a close match. Meagher took the first game easily and managed to keep in front despite stronger play from Slaughter, winning 9-1, 9-7, 9-7.
First string Paul Butcher had a close match with Phil McCumskey. The advantage swung back and forth with Butcher just managing to keep the edge to take the tie 3-2 – the scores 9-3, 6-9, 9-5, 5-9, 9-4. Bognor took six points from the loss.
