AT the June meeting, members enjoyed a talk given by Mr. Colin Page of Guestling Nurseries, entitled 'A Garden for all Reasons'. This was a very interesting evening with Mr. Page's talk embellished with a superb collection of colour slides of many and various gardens of all shapes, sizes and purposes. There were many slides of very close up subjects of flowers, insects and other garden inhabitants. A very enjoyable evening indeed.
At the mid-evening interval, members enjoyed the usual tea and biscuits, followed by a small raffle with prizes provided by the audience and proceeds to club funds.

The monthly mini-competition 'An Oblong Cake' to be donated to Pelargonium Show Ca
nteen, was won by Mrs. Fluff Muggridge.

On Saturday, June 14, we held our Annual Pelargonium Show at Brede Village Hall, when members produced about 150 exhibits turning the Hall into a riot of colour. Our judge for this show, Mr. Dick Hamilton from Essex, was most impressed with the quality of the exhibits, remarking that it was the best display of Regal Pelargoniums that he had seen this year.

Members' plant sales at the entrance went very well and the canteen was kept busy selling hot and cold drinks and lots of homemade cakes and sponges, etc. The tombola table was also kept busy with around 100 prizes, donated by members and their friends, to be won.

Of the thirteen trophies to be won, the winners were: Mrs. Jean Merricks(7), Mr. John Wilson (2), Mrs. Fluff Muggridge (2), Mrs. Barbara Grice (1) and Mrs. Jean Dunne (1).

Our next club meeting will be on Thursday July 10 at Catsfield Village Hall at 7.30pm. Non-members would be very welcome to visit.

Our next event is the Annual Fuchsia Show, to be held at Brede Village Hall on Saturday, August 2. This event is open to non-members, so all are welcome to enter . Any entries should be notified to our Secretary on 753527 or 436346 by Wednesday, July 30 and be produced at Brede Village Hall by 10am on Saturday, August 2.
