Hastings Writers' Group - May 16
WE were delighted to welcome our patron, novelist Tamara McKinley, to our latest Manuscript Evening held on April 28. Those of us producing works in progress for comments from the group also had the benefit of Tamara's invaluable input, which was hard-hitting where necessary but constructive. Additionally, the evening gave new members the opportunity to meet our patron and for her to see how group meetings operate.
At the following meeting, held on 12 May, member Rosemary Bartholomew ran a light-hearted, fun 'Getting to Know You' exercise. Everyone worked in pairs, first interviewing each other and then reporting back to the group what they had discovered. This included finding out about first and last writing successes and aspirations, favourite books, authors, films and TV programmes, as well as some hilarious most embarrassing moments, some surprising facts and finishing with True or False statements for the rest to guess.
