Pregnant mum Clare Shipman was left sobbing by a bus driver who failed to stop after an accident which saw her pinned to the floor by her baby's buggy.

Clare, 26, was out shopping in Hastings with three year-old Connor, and one year-old Megan in a pram, one afternoon last week, when she boarded the 20a Stagecoach bus on the seafront, back home to Hollington.

Connor ran to find a seat while Clare struggled to put down the buggy.
Clare's partner James Baker, 27, said: "The bus had set off before she could even bend down to sort out the buggy.

"The bus came to the roundabout and clipped the kerb, and the drive slammed on the brakes.

"Clare fell over, and the buggy fell over on top of her, with the baby still in it.

"The bus didn't stop at all, just carried on its journey to the next stop."

The couple want to thank an elderly gentleman who stayed on the bus long after his stop to help Claire, and another passenger who comforted tearful baby Megan.

Despite being in tears -and pain- for the whole journey James said Tesco worker Clare only received a "Sorry, love," from the driver.

He said: "I thought it was disgusting. It wasn't until she got home that she phoned me at work and I took her to the Conquest hospital.

"She was signed off work with a bruised arm, and she couldn't use her arm for quite a few days."

Operations director for Stagecoach East Kent and Hastings, Neil Instrall, said: "We are concerned about this reported occurance. Our investigations so far have not revealed anything, but we are keen to get to the bottom of it. We would ask Mr Baker to get in touch again."
